Welcome to the New England Thomasist Transcendental Living Experiment.
We are a small "group of folks" dedicated to bringing 18th century natural-world-oriented consciousness and philosophy into the 21st century by creating inexpensive yet aesthetically pleasing low-impact energy-efficient small houses using alternative architectural and building techniques.

Our intent is to build a series of small cordwood structures suited to the individual's tastes and needs. These individual houses will share a central septic system, which will also be carefully designed to have as little impact on the local ecosystem as possible. Eventually, with enough people, we hope to build a Hall capable of hosting seminars, or perhaps performances by local talent.
We will be using the Earthwood Building School Campus
of West Chazey, NY as a basic outline conceptually, with allowances for our own
building site, which has yet to be selected, but will be in Vermont.
The Earthwood house has a diameter of 38’8”, with 16” thick cordwood masonry walls. Forty per cent (40%) of the cylindrical walls are composed of surface-bonded concrete blocks, and earth-sheltered. The separate sauna is 10’ in diameter with 8” thick walls. Earthwood is powered by 500 watts of photovoltaic cells and a Whisper 600 wind generator. The library (2 photos above) at left, is 16’ in diameter, while the Earthwood office is 20’ in diameter. Most of the buildings at Earthwood have sod roofs.
